Well, to keep a long story short, here’s my story in a nutshell:

I was born and raised in Waco, TX.
  • 1996: Graduated from Texas State Technical College with a bachelor’s degree in Commercial Art & Advertising.
  • Worked at Nystrom Lithocraft as a Scanner Operator where I learn color correction, print production and real-world design issues.
georgia
Then I moved to Georgia in 1996.
  • 1998: Graudate from the Portolio Center with a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design.
  • 1999: Work in several small agencies around the city including Frogfire Digital and Spunky Productions.
  • 1999-2001: My first agency job at Sapient as a graphic designer. Worked on accounts for Kodak, Nokia and Sallie Mae.
ohio
Next I moved to Ohio.
  • 2001-2003: Worked as a Creative Director for Universal Digital Communications. Clients included Ashland University, City of Ontario, Ohio, and other local financial and retail businesses.
connecticut
Following Ohio, I moved to Connecticut.
  • 2004-2006: Worked at what was then Modem Media in Norwalk, CT as Sr. Art Director. Clients included AOL, ESPN, and Delta Air Lines.
georgia
After 2 years in Connecticut at Modem Media, I was fortunate enough to transfer back to Atlanta to help open their new office. I was the first and only creative person there and supported the creative teams back in Connecticut by building a strong relationship with the Delta clients.
  • 2008: Modem Media merges with Digitas and forms Digitas Atlanta
  • I continue to work on Delta, but expand my experience to work on clients such as Scana Energy, Home Depot, SunTrust Bank and Equifax.
  • 2012: Changed roles from Sr. Art Director to Sr. Creative Engineer to focus on more technology projects include Responsive Web Design prototypes, Digitas Labs projects, R&D on new technology platforms and custom email templates.

With nearly 20 years in the industry, I’ve been fortunate to work with some amazing people. And along the way I’ve learned—from them, through my mistakes and through my successes—that to be successful in any field, you have to love what you do. And I sure do love this stuff. It takes commitment to learn your craft, learn your tools and push yourself out of your comfort zone sometimes to find those moments of “Ah ha!”.

In the end, “design”, however you define it, can truly have an impact on your world and those around you if you’re daring enough to look for it.

And as Paul Rand once said:

“Don’t try to be original, just try to be good.”
